Butte College Moves Most In-Person Spring Semester Classes For Two Weeks, Beginning January 24 – February 4

Butte College President Dr. Samia Yaqub announced the college is implementing a plan to keep the campus community safe during the current Omicron COVID-19 surge. With the goal of reducing the number of students on campus, Butte College will be moving most in-person classes to remote at the start of the Spring Semester for a two week period, January 24 – February 4.

Many classes that are currently scheduled to meet on-ground (including classes with labs) will meet remotely for the first two weeks of the semester, Jan. 24 – Feb. 4. Career programs such as law enforcement, fire, nursing, EMT, and welding will remain on-ground during this period, following the same protocols that kept students and staff safe for the past two years.

“We believe moving many classes and services to remote for a two-week frame will help protect our college community,” said Yaqub. “Students and faculty are being notified if their classes have any changes and we will review the situation and communicate if these conditions need to continue. In the meantime, I encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boosted.”
